FOOTBALL STAKEHOLDERS ACCUSE GFF OF FINANCIAL MISMANAGEMENT

Gambia (Football) Football stakeholders have accused the Lamin Kaba Bajo-led GFF Executive Committee for what they called “mismanagement of public funds”.
The stakeholders made this call during the Football Federation’s Annual General Meeting held on Saturday at the Friendship Hostel in Bakau. Alhagie Jandi Aka Papou, vice president of the Tallinding United football club demanded the GFF president Lamin Kaba Bajo to apologise or resign as the president before wasting public fund on “unrealistic expenditures”.

Lamin King Colley, president of Bombada FC said: “I am not an accountant but I have been working in an Accounts department for nine good years, and headed that department. My challenge is directed at the salary of the GFF staff of 41, which is said to be D5M. Let me tell you there are institutions in this country with over five thousand personnel and they are not paying over five million Dalasis annually. And if you look at 2014 with the staff of 39 and their salary amounted to D3M, but in 2015 with the addition of 2 staff they are telling us they paid D5M as staff salary.

I know every staff salary of GFF; from the secretaries down to the cleaners. I have the record and I don’t just want to go direct to the figures,” he told Daily Observer Sports at the AGM. Kamkuba Dibba of Milan FC, and Omar Badjie of Samger FC called on GFF financial department to put their house in order rather than mismanage public fund.

GFF Spent D17M in 2015 The financial manager of the Gambia Football Federation, Kemo Ceesay disclosed to the AGM that in the year 2015, GFF expenditure amounted to D17M in the areas of air tickets, allowances, computers, staff salaries among other expenditures. His financial report presentation did not go down well with some of the delegates after scrutiny.

The report was however adopted by delegates, but not until after what was a heated query by delegates, who doubted what was presented to them.
